SMS has evolved as Mother NGO under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Dept. of Govt. of India on reproductive and Child Health 2 Program. It has 4 FNGOs at four blocks in Nadia district

The aim is to promote improved reproductive and child health status in the areas with the support of Unicef.

Impact has been significant
ANC coverage has been increased from 28.36% to 65%.
Reduced early pregnancy from 43.2% to 35%.
Child immunisation coverage raised from71% to 96%.
Institutional delivery status increased from 60% to 80%Reduced RTI prevalence rate from 59% to 40%.
Use of modern family planning methods is increased from 44.5% to 77%.

The SMS as an MNGO undertook a project ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) with National Rural Health Mission under the supervision of Ministry of Health &Family Welfare in collaboration with the State Government (Health & Family Welfare dept.). The objective was to develop health volunteers through proper training for working in backward areas to reduce mortality rates of mother and child. These volunteers or ASHA workers are able to reach better service to improve the health of mother and child in the relevant areas.

SMS worked in Nakashipara block in 15 GPs with 305 participants.

About 305 ASHA workers are on their way to take on the field with 2 project co-ordinators and 12 facilitators getting on the move.

SMS has gone through the experience of implementation and come out fused and solid gold with its understanding and achievements.
